things said so often during olympic telecasts that they cannot possibly be true
- "This is the second most popular sport in the world after soccer."
- "She is one of the most famous people in China."
- "Michael Phelps is charismatic and his races are interesting to watch." (implied)
- "Russian tanks are rolling into Georgia."
I'm on to you!

Along the lines of #2, I would offer "The entire country of _______ is watching, right now."
Oh yeah, that's a good one.
Man, I'm a bit pissed off right now. They're showing an *awful* lot of swimming, and very little men's gymnastics, which is about a million times more impressive to watch. I get that the US will be getting fewer medals in gymnastics, but that doesn't mean I'd rather watch Michael Phelps listen to his ipod than see some dude being awesome on the rings.
Agreed. Especially that super-jacked Indian gymnast... How come India doesn't have a whole team full of hims?
It's a fair question, and one we were asking during the opening ceremonies. The Indian olympic team is amazingly small given the country's population. Sure, it's a poor country, but still -- the olympics must *really* not be a priority over there.
i think bollywood has a lockdown on all the super-jacked indian dudes in india.
