let the beat roll over

It's beautiful outside. I have the windows open, the better part of a pot of good coffee ahead of me, and I'm listening to music that's both aggressive and aggressively poppy at a pretty significant volume. As a plan of action for a Friday in August, I heartily endorse this one.

The vocals are a bit "front-forward" in a slightly annoying way, but I'd have no trouble cranking that one for a bout of Sunday cleaning or something.

 

Yeah. I'm pretty far behind when it comes to actually acquiring it -- Charles has had it (and been singing its praises) for a while, but I hadn't grabbed a copy.

The whole album is worth listening to, although sometimes it definitely borders on monotony. But this -- and the vocal mixing -- is easier to excuse given that it's a concept album about America becoming a totalitarian Christian theocracy.
